Ankle Fixation Sock

I'm at the half-way point of my ankle Fixation sock. I figured when I learned how to knit with dpn's, that I'd take off, and start knitting real socks, without a seam. Here's a picture.

                    

I am aware of the fact that I have to make another one, after this one. That is why we have two feet.

Felted bowl

Picture and Pattern:

                                 

Cast on 40 to size 11 dpn's.

Redistribute evenly, to four needles.

Knit in the round for 3 1/2 inches.

Begin the decrease: Knit 2 tog, knit 4, knit 2 tog, reapeat to end of row

Knit the next row, call this and even number row, knit all the even numbered rows.

Knit2tog, knit 2, knit 2 tog, reapeat to end of row.

Next even row

Next row: Knit2tog, knit 2 tog, and so on to the end of the row

Knit next row, next row, knit2tog, knit6, knit 2 tog.

You will be switching to three needles, instead of four. Bind off with a crochet hook, and two needles.

(I will try to post a picture of the crochet hook bind off eventually, on this site. I'm not to that point, yet.)

Felt in washing machine, mini cycle, Era, and baking soda, with a couple of dirty towels, three times. I let it run all the way through. As long as it aggitates thoroughly. Shape it with a large orange in thre middle. I wrapped the orange around a paper towel. Let dry.

Quest of the DPN's

wI finally learned how to knit with DPN's, and I made a little felt bowl. I took my little felt bowl to  work, and my friend says, "That's messed up, Rhonda. You knitted that? You need a life." She's probably right, and I kept her comment clean, cause she didn't say "messed".

   Sorry no pic, yet.But,I've decided that everyone will get a little felted bowl for Christmas.

OMG, I love this thing. I can't imagine going anywhere without my little Diva. It took some getting used to, and all, and the removal, well, I almost have it down, too.

  I only wish I'd have this back in 6th grade, instead of a Kotex belt, which was all we had back then. I'm glad I have my little Diva now. It is, by far, the best female product around. I think it's helped with cramping, and maybe PMS-could the sealing and tightness of it, help with the cramping? Quite possibly. The cup is containing a mscle that is cramping from hormones. Ofcourse, it doesn't remain cramped and tight, only during part of the month. It helps with cramping cause the suctioned seal produces a sort of harmless heat, and the heat stops the cramps. My theory.

I feel like io can move again, wear tight jeans during the other half of the month (yes, half, I'm 44. It's a split month between no PMS, the other half.) I am comfortable with my Lunapads, or Gladrags (preferring LunaPads).

Damn it's hard to type while eating Swedish Fish!

                                    

   

Job interview-Update

To be honest with you, the place I interviewed the other day was so tired looking and unfriendly, that I'd never want to work there.

I could write about my progress on my two needle socks, I'm actually progressing nicely, or about my Market bag, which is knitted in the round, and it's fun and fast, but instead I am going to invest in, and talk about, this:

Don't get grossed out. I think the time of the month is about the grossest thing ever. But, I'm 44 years old, and I'm tired of the whole thing, going to the store, each and every month, gathering up 5.46 for Always, and then 5.46 for Tampax, and then, another 2.39 or a bit more for mini's, cause you don't ever know for sure, and then, wearing a tampon for four hours, and having it stuck up in there. That's atleast 12.00 a month, and a box might last for two months. Maybe not. So, I decided to try the Diva Cup, which is sold in Canada. http://www.divacup.com/Personally, they need to sell it here. Everytime I use a tampon, I'm scared of a horrible staff infection or something, even though I wash my hands. I'm afraid of the powder, and the other chemicals in it. Tampons leak, so, I decided to buy Sea Sponge Tampons. They last for a year, you wet them, and stick them up there. You rinse them, and they are left to dry in their container for another month.

  This is funny: www.mum.org.  The period museum, online. Hee, hee. Remember belts? I learned with belts, God, how horrendous, no wonder I hate my period. What I don't hate is the idea of cotton, reusable, pads. Infact, it's kind of cool, while, I still think I'll have on hand, a box of this and that, who doesn't? I'm  getting plenty used to washing out underthings, and I'm getting tired of it. Only alternative: BC pills, which will in turn, turns me into a fat cow, and I'm trying to diet, and I've lost 5 pounds. For night time use, these things are just right up my alley. Possibly, for work too, as long as I don't wear my lower cut Dickies, which would never work on a period day, anyway. So, I'm trying to find something new to use. Something that won't break me out, infect me, or cause urinary tract infections. It has always gone with the territory, and I'm tired of it.

   

English Language

You knew this was going to happen, didn't you? I'm tired of the way Americans tear up the English language. The following is a good example of a popular phrase, that makes my skin crawl:

        How may I help you?

First, How and may are adverbs. How can be followed with a subject, but it should not be placed next to a second adverb. May I help you is offering something. how may I help you are two adverbs to supposedly sound polite.

The correct term, and more simple term, is May I help you? How may I help you, only sounds polite, but apparently was not created by anyone who is educated with grammar.

So I'll go on, and say, yes, there are people who read novels, and "proof read" while enjoying the novel. I like to look for grammatical errors. It causes me great joy to find one. I enjoy looking for sentances that end in prepositions. I enjoy finding them. It makes me smile.

New Booties
