The Davinci Code

My goal this week, if I ever put down the Davinci Code, is to finish the vines in the Ten Commandments.

I'm going to the regional seminar with EGA on Thursday, in Omaha. For Merchandise Night. If I'm not finished with the book, you know what I'll be doing Thursday night. If I'm finished with the book, I'm taking Linn Skinner's freebie from her mini samplers group I just recieved. The freebie chart is one of the coolest charts I have. Check out the number sequence on page 66 of the paperback Davinci Code, and it'll kind of explain the chart. There's now way she'd know how much I liked numbers and things, but she might know. I may have discussed this before with her. I hate math, but love numbers. I can think about numbers in my sleep. Phone numbers, map point numbers from my Garmin, web address numbers for the router, social security numbers.

   I can see me making the chart into a needleroll, then  having to explain it.

  On the Davinci Code. I've heard the same theories before, somewhere, I don't know where. I also wonder why the texts in the Bible, stop when Jesus was 12 and start when he was 30. While I have 18 different bibles here, and I have read some of them, and my latest bible is The Message Remix, and I have on order, a loose leaf NKJV, for my church studies, I wonder how much of it is theory, but I also try to live my life in a good Godly fashion, if at all possible. which is  spelled out, right there in the bible.

   The fact that Jesus probably kept a journal, is probable. If He had a girlfriend, that was his business, cause, the Bible doesn't list anything from age 12-30. (He was kind of good looking, I'd not be surprised if he had several girls begging at his feet). I have yet to look at Davinici's Last Supper, closely, at church, but I do know there is an actual Davinici, in London, with the female Mary by Jesus's side, and he painted a second LS and hung it in France. I have seen the Illustrated Davinci Code at Barnes and Noble, and I'm thinking of getting it. I also have on order, Nicky Gumbel's "On the Davinci Code", released on May 5th. Nicky did the Alpha course DVD's, and I'm almost finished with my Alpha course at church. Wednesdays are super exciting to me cause of this class. I love it, and I totally suggest anyone who has the chance, to take their Alpha class at church. In my Sunday school class, they are thinking about having a discussion on the Davinci Code. So, I ordered one of the Cracking the Code books.

  Although the book is truly a work of art, and the movie looks just as good, we must remember it is fiction, based on theory. But, is the Bible theory as well? Well, it's fact, based on evidence, and also some theory. So, look at the big picture, and run with it.

Linn's Mini Sampler

When I get Linn Skinner's Mini samplers (she has to print all of her own designs, now, but when you recieve them, it is worth it. The charts are great.) I'm going to turn each one into a bell pull, using the aida banding I also have in my stash.

What to do with 2 bookmarks

When I got my new issue of Gift of Stitching, Online cross stitch magazine, I found these three bookmarks. I liked them, and thought I'd like to stitch them. So, I had some Aida banding in my stash, and it wasn't the color of the chart. I changed the colors to match the banding boarder. I added my initials and the year, and then, ordered the bell pull hardware. I got the bell pull hardware today, and I finished the bell pull while I had my scheduled maintenance done on my Honda car.

    Here's a picture of the bell pull, but I haven't completely done the sewing of it, just yet.

                                           

Far Out

French Knots

Do you hate them or love them? Aren't they cute little things that can be anything from eye balls to polka dots, to fill ins, or worse, they can slide inbetween squares, or holes, and be lost forever!

                Here's an easy way:

                  

This is from a bookmarker I am making, that's ontop of another bookmarker, therefore, creating a bell pull in the end. You You can clearly see the French knots. I didn't loose one why? Cause, with Aida cloth (It's what I had on hand), didn't have linen 28 count bell pull fabric, and will never have it. With Aida, there's one and only one hole. I think linen is beautiful, and use it, but I think this will only work on Aida.

  You take your needle, and pyut it into the aida hole, bring it up it one thread above where you want your knot. This creates a stitch. You make your knot, and wrap the needle, having been in the aida hole, is placed into the thread above this, causing a stitch to actually lock the knot. You'll never loose your knot, therefore, never loose your marbles.

Drop Stitch with a Twist

This is from a pattern in the book Knitter's Dozen, scarves.

Easier wrist warmers

I must've been elsewhere when I made that wrist warmer pattern. It perfectly fits my hand, albeit so perfectly that there's no stretch, and the heigth is perfect, which doesn't work. I thought I had size 7 needles, but when I came back to earth, I realized I had size 4 needles. So, here's the new pattern:

size 7 needles. Cast on 34, Long tail cast on. Have a row counter, and one stitch marker.

Stitch 6 rows, rib- k1, p1 -PM at end of last row of rib. Marks beginning of st stitch rows.

Stitch 20 rows stockinette stitch (first row knit, next row purl).

stitch 6 rows rib. Leaving a hole for the thumb (or, you could, at the last row of st stitches, bind off eight, then finish the row, then cast of 8, and continue the stockinette stitch for two more rows before starting ribs.)

Then, stitch up the sides. Make two the same.

Belt pattern for left over yarn

I know that last post was a bummer, but that's how I feel now, like a bummer. But, anyway, on to better things. Maybe life will get on to better things.

    My son did 5 practice races at the BMX track today, and came out atleast 3rd or 4th place in each run.

I cam up for another use for left over yarn, but I might have to buy another skein of ribbon yarn for this one to finish it. (I do more cross stitching than knitting, but publish more knitting charts cause it's difficult to publish cross stitch charts, and right now I don't have much patience for cut and paste cross stitch charts from my PC Stitch.)

Belt Pattern

Cast on 6 -needs to be wide ribbon yarn or something like that, to go on size 15 needles.

Knit in Stockinette stitch until it's long enough, you might need to add more yarn, so make a flower out of the left overs from that.

Bind off, shake it out, and apply a plastic buckle at the one end, and stitch the edge down, with the buckle attached. Make sure you stitch the right side to the underneath right side. (duh.).

Visitation

We had my grandma's  visitation. For some odd reason, I wanted to stay in the funeral home for longer than we did. My son was very uncomfortable, and said, later, he felt like he was going to "puke", so that's why he insisted we leave.

   Then, I had this tremendous gnawing guilt complex, that brought me to tears (no, not in front of anyone), and I cried for a long time, then, I went to my little book, "Where to find it in the Bible", and looked up a few things about guild and grief, and then I showered, and now I feel better. I told my son I wasn't ready to leave when we left, and he said, "Mom, that's gross." Then, what made it worse, was, my mom said, "You feel bad cause you didn't visit her enough," Which makes me think I don't visit people before they get sick enough, then, I ran to my bathroom, and got a guilt feeling again. and went through it again. My mom implied "You'll probably never visit me when I'm in a nursing home." But, that's not true, and, I guess reading the bible helped, but, that's not usually me.

  Tomorrow is the funeral. I guess I better get a grip on things as they are. I don't believe I waited too late to begin feeling guilty, cause I did visit her. Not as much as my mom did. I talked to her alot on the phone, too. I always sent her cards. I got her Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, and I just recently saw her. I don't know why the hell I feel so rotten. I guess this is the bargaining phase of the grief process. I don't like this phase at all. This isn't me. I want to feel some joy again. This is too long for me to feel this bad.
